Ingrown Nails & Nail Surgery

Ingrown Toenails & Nail Surgery

At your appointment, we will assess the nail and discuss the most appropriate treatment. Mild cases can often be managed with conservative treatment, while recurring or severely painful ingrown nails may be best treated with nail surgery.

What is nail surgery?

Nail surgery is a minor procedure carried out under local anaesthetic. The affected section of the nail is carefully removed, and a chemical called phenol is usually applied to prevent that edge of the nail from growing back

About Paul

Paul graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Podiatry from Queen Margaret University after completing a Sports Injury Diploma in Sydney, Australia, in 2010.

Helping people stay active, comfortable and pain-free has always been at the heart of Paul's work. Whether you're struggling with a long-standing foot problem or a recent injury, his aim is to understand the cause of your pain, explain your treatment options clearly, and help you get back to doing the things you enjoy.

After qualifying, Paul gained valuable experience working in NHS clinics throughout Scotland. He was also fortunate to secure funding to visit Singapore, where he explored how podiatry is practised internationally. The experience gave him a broader understanding of different approaches to patient care and continues to influence his clinical practice today.

For the past 12 years, Paul has been proud to run his own private podiatry clinic in Dunfermline, caring for patients of all ages. He takes time to carry out a thorough assessment of the lower limb, foot and ankle to identify the underlying cause of pain, whether it's restricted joint movement, a painful corn, ingrown nail, biomechanical issues or another foot condition. Every treatment plan is tailored to the individual, with the goal of reducing pain, improving mobility and helping patients return to the activities they love.

Patients value Paul's friendly, down-to-earth approach and his commitment to providing honest advice and evidence-based treatment. He believes that listening to patients and working together to find the right solution is just as important as the treatment itself.

Outside the clinic, Paul enjoys spending time creating art, listening to music and working in the garden. These hobbies allow him to unwind and reflect the patience, creativity and attention to detail that he brings to his work.

“Had my first session with Paul yesterday and was very impressed. He was very friendly and also thorough with his examination to diagnose the issue. Within minutes of leaving I had a full email summary to capture what we had discussed and to summarise the exercise plan. I also received a footwear selection guide to assist me with buying a new pair of running shoes. Thanks Paul”
